A three-year starter and captain for the Iowa Hawkeyes football team was reportedly arrested Saturday morning for public intoxication and interference with official acts. Micah Hyde was booked into the Johnson County Jail and released Saturday morning, according to reports. According to our coverage partners at the Iowa City Press-Citizen, Hyde was part of a group fighting with staff members at a downtown Iowa City bar around closing time. When police arrived, members of the group started running from police. The report says Hyde was taken into custody a couple of blocks away, showed signs of impairment, and refused a breathalyzer test. Hyde has started 31 straight games at cornerback and is tied for third on the team in tackles.
In two unrelated cases, back up tight end Ray Hamilton was charged Saturday morning with being in a bar after hours. Hamilton is 19-years-old. Reserve offensive lineman Drew Clark was charged Friday morning with public intoxication outside an Iowa City bar.
