Osage boy accused of murdering mother will be tried as a youthful offender

A 14-year-old Osage boy, accused of killing his mother, will be classified as a youthful offender.

The boy allegedly shot his mother 21 times with a semi-automatic rifle in March.

Wednesday a judge ruled how he will be tried.

By classifying him as a youthful offender, he will stay under the supervision of the judicial system past his 18th birthday.

Authorities say he may have tried to sexually abuse her.

No trial date has been set.

The teen remains in a Waterloo detention center.
