CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
Cedar Rapids held its annual Walk for Wishes 5K on Sunday morning in Cedar Rapids at Veterans Memorial Stadium. About 60 participants were involved in the walk or run event. The event benefits the Iowa Chapter of the Make a Wish Foundation which grants wishes to terminally ill children between the ages of two and eighteen.
According to Angie Corcoran, the chairperson of Walk for Wishes, each wish requires about $8300 to come true. The Iowa Chapter is currently looking to fulfill 172 wishes for this year. All proceeds from Iowa Make-a-Wish Foundation events will stay within the state to benefit terminally ill children from Iowa.
