CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
Parts of eastern Iowa are going pink for breast cancer awareness.
Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids decided to light the night pink on Thursday.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center will have pink lights through the end of October.
The lights are to promote awareness and early detection.
"I have had so much support," said Gail Audino, who just finished treatment at Mercy. "I don't know how to even begin to tell people what it meant and how it helped me through this."
Alliant Energy helped sponsor the Power of Pink event and handed out pink light bulbs so others could light their streets throughout October.
