WINTHROP (KWWL) -

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office says an 18-year-old from Winthrop was arrested on Wednesday for having a gun on school grounds.

In a one sentence press release, Sheriff Bill Wolfgram said that 18-year-old Brixdon Mulford was arrested by deputies for carrying weapons onto school grounds.

East Buchanan Community Schools Superintendent Daniel Fox says Mulford had the gun in a case, locked in the back of his truck and had no ammunition for it.

Fox says the only way anyone knew the gun was there is because Mulford was talking about it to friends and a staff member overheard.

Fox says there was never a threat to anyone at the school and it caused no disruption to the school day.
