UPDATE: Judge denies Dan Morrissey's change of venue request

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Online court records show that Daniel Morrissey's change of venue request has been denied, for now.

Morrissey, the father of Lyric Cook who has been missing with her cousin Elizabeth Collins since July 13th, faces seven drug related charges for three separate incidents.

Morrissey and his attorney argued that due to publicity surrounding his missing daughter and niece and the subsequent publicity of his drug charges, Morrissey could not receive a fair trial in Black Hawk County.

Iowa Courts Online shows that Judge Margaret Lingreen filed a ruling that the change of venue was denied in all three cases and the trial is scheduled to begin on November 13 at 9:00 a.m.

As part of her order, Judge Lingreen has ordered a survey of all residents who report for jury duty in other cases and are dismissed.  Those people will be asked about Daniel Morrissey and those results will be used to determine if he can get a fair trial in Black Hawk County.
