ELKADER (KWWL) -
Last fall, voters in Clayton County passed a bond issue that allowed the county to get a new office building. Today, the building was open for the public to come tour.
The decision to renovate an old factory building into the new county office building was made due to the amount and cost of repairs at the old county office building. A big factor was the lack of accessibility to handicap pedestrians within the county.
The building opened three weeks ago and now houses a variety of service offices including the driver's license office, veteran's affairs office, and the county supervisors office. There is also a large conference room that is open for public rental.
The new building is located at 600 Gunder Road in Elkader. The old building is now up for sale.
