More Iowans out of work

More Iowans are out of work, that's according to the latest numbers released by Iowa Workforce Development Friday.  

Iowa's unemployment rate for August was 5.5%, that's a total of 90,000 unemployed people. July finished with an unemployment rate of 5.3%.

Even with the slight increase, this latest report is down from a year ago.  In 2011 the unemployment rate was at 6%.

The number of Iowans out of work is also far lower than the national average which fell to 8.1% last month.
