Cedar Falls car fire spreads to home

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

What started as a car fire spread to a home in Cedar Falls on Sunday night.

Cedar Falls Fire Chief John Schilling says firefighters were called to 2216 Lincoln Street at around 10:45 p.m. Sunday for a reported vehicle fire.

Before their arrival, crews were notified that the fire had spread to the manufactured home that the car was parked next to.

Firefighters were able to put the fires out, but both the vehicle and home were damaged.

Schilling says that the smoke alarm inside the house alerted the residents and they were able to call 9-1-1.
