CLAYTON COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Clayton County man is charged with attempted murder after authorities say he shot his wife on Sunday.

Clayton County deputies arrested 29-year-old Adam Joseph Every-Harbaugh on Sunday in connection with the shooting of his 29-year-old wife at their home at 37284 Graham Road in rural Colesburg.

Deputies believe the couple got into an argument before Harbaugh fired a shotgun at his wife, hitting her in the head.  She was taken to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital before being transferred to an Iowa City hospital.

Harbaugh is charged with attempted murder and operating while intoxicated.  He is being held in the Clayton County Jail on a $150,000 cash or surety bond.
