INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) -

The Iowa State Patrol has released the names of the six people injured in an accident on Highway 150, just north of Independence, on Monday.

According to the ISP, 16-year-old Peighton Kayser of Hazleton was headed south on Highway 150 when she crossed the center line, sideswiped a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Scott McCardle of Independence and then hit a vehicle driven by 63-year-old Lowell Meier of Independence head-on.

Kayser and three relatives, ages 13, 11 and seven were all injured and taken to the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.

McCardle and Meier were also injured and taken to the same hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says Kayser and her passengers were heading to school when the accident happened.

Troopers say charges are pending.
