Llamas taking center stage in Cedar Rapids

It wasn't horses but llamas that took center stage at the Iowa Equestrian Center in Cedar Rapids this weekend.

The Llama Futurities Association held their annual World Championship Show and Sale.

Dozens of breeders from across the country came to Iowa to promote the llama industry.

"Llamas are a really interesting alternative livestock animal," said Ryan Laux, Sale Coordinator.  "They're used for their wool. They also have a great personality and they're a very rewarding animal."

Llamas can also be used as a guard animal to protect sheep and other livestock.
