CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The process of rebuilding after the floods of 2008 has been a long and arduous one for the city of Cedar Rapids.

Saturday, city officials showed off some of the rebuilding efforts.

The city hosted a self-guided walking tour to show off what they say is about $200 million worth of public and private investment in housing projects since the floods 4 years ago.

The city lost more than 1000 homes in the floods of 2008.

"We added a commercial component to our building. We're bringing in a restaurant and a whole foods style grocery store that will help accent what the city is doing with the indoor farmer's market down the street," said Allen Lerch of Sky's Edge Development.

The walking tour included 17 newly constructed buildings and homes.
