Weisman emerges, Hawkeyes beat Panthers 27-16

Mark Weisman, Iowa fullback/5th string tailback, ran for 113 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Hawkeyes powered past UNI 27-16.

Weisman was forced into action after Damon Bullock and Greg Garmon left the game due to a head injury and a shoulder injury respectively.

UNI's offense looked like it might have an advantage early.  The Panthers opened the game with an 83 yard drive capped by a 1 yard David Johnson touchdown.  However, they were only able to manage 3 Tyler Sievertsen field goals, including a career long 49 yard kick, during the remainder of the game.

Weisman scored his first touchdown of the game while still playing the fullback position.  The Iowa sophomore bullied his way in from the one yard line on their first drive.  Weisman's 2nd touchdown, also from the one, gave Iowa a 14-13 2nd quarter lead.  The third came from the 2 in the second half giving Iowa an 11 point lead while helping to seal the deal.
