UNI Tailback David Johnson remembers watching Hawks and Panthers

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Do you remember where you were in 2009 when the Iowa Hawkeyes and Northern Iowa Panthers played their memorable game at Kinnick stadium?

Panther sophomore tailback David Johnson knows where he was... Johnson then a junior at Clinton High School was at the game as an Iowa Hawkeye recruit.

Johnson says he was impressed that day watching his future UNI backfield mate Carlos Anderson run for 75 yards in his first collegiate start.

Johnson was impressed with how hard and well Northern Iowa played in nearly upsetting the Hawks--losing a tough 20-19 decision when Iowa blocked two Billy Hallgren field goal attempts as time ran out.

Johnson says when Iowa didn't offer him a scholarship--it was easy for Johnson to accept UNI's offer based on what he saw in that game.
