WAVERLY (KWWL) -
An international company is expanding its operations in eastern Iowa.
Carmi Flavor and Fragrance Company currently has facilities in Waverly, and now it's constructing an additional 34,000 square foot warehouse facility. The new warehouse is located just behind Draft Horse Journal in the city's Northwest Industrial Park and will add at least two full-time employees. The $1.4 million facility will allow Carmi to build equipment for making its products, along with trucks for shipping them.
"We've been successful because we're able to compete. We're able to do things other people aren't willing to do or cannot actually do it in the field that we're in. That's one of the reasons we're designing and building our own equipment to be a little different, and to be a little better, to build a better product," said Eliot Carmi with Carmi Flavor & Fragrance Co.
The expansion was made possible by financial incentives offered by the city, based on tax increment financing dollars.
