DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
The Dubuque community got to hear from the second of three school district superintendent candidates Wednesday afternoon.
Michael Houselog is currently the superintendent for the Belvidere Community Unit School District in Belleville, Ill.
He has served as a superintendent for a combined total of 13 years in three different districts.
"I look at the experiences that I've had elsewhere would really allow me to bring something to the table in Dubuque that I would be very proud of," Houselog said. I see my other experiences that I've had prior to this as all leading up to this kind of a job."
Houselog grew up in Dubuque got his undergraduate degree from Loras College.
"I'm one of those people, who, while not living in Dubuque for 30 years has always said, 'I'm originally from Dubuque. Dubuque's my home,' and that is something I would like to bring back," Houselog said. "I think I can bring back a level of experience as a superintendent having been one for 13 years and over 35 years in total of educational experience. I think I have plenty to offer this community."
On Thursday, the district will host the final of three superintendent candidate community forums. The third and final candidate, Karl Kurt, will speak at the district headquarters Thursday at 4 p.m.
