U.S. Army Ranger, Jason Church, continues his recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, after being severe injured in an IED explosion in Afghanistan last month.

Tuesday, Ranger Church received a surprise visit from President Obama on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks. President Obama stopped by Jason's hospital room and posed for a photograph with Ranger Church and his parents, along with Jason's girlfriend, Katey.

Colonel David Church, Jason's father, is a native of Hudson, Iowa, and a graduate of West Point. The Church's lived in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Ranger Church's grandparents are Becky and Jason Church, retired educators and longtime residents of Hudson. They now reside at Friendship Village in Waterloo.
