The rejection of a union contract could mean the closure of a Hostess plant

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Union workers at the Hostess plant in Waterloo have rejected the latest contract offer from the company. It could mean the plant's closure.

Members of the Bakers, Confectioners, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union turned down the company's latest offer, which would have meant wage cuts.

The company is currently in federal bankruptcy court and the CEO has reportedly said Hostess would close plants if unions didn't accept the company's latest offer.

The matter now goes back to the company and before the bankruptcy court.

Union officials say they expect to find out more about their future in the next three to four weeks.
