UPDATE; Name released in fatal Linn County backhoe accident

LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Linn County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man who was killed on Monday when the backhoe he was in tipped over and trapped him.

Sergeant Richard Yoder says that 31-year-old Justin Daniel Steenhard of Elma was operating the backhoe in a ditch near the intersection of Springville Road and Abbe Hills Road in Linn County at about 9:30 a.m. when the accident happened.

Crews helped free the driver, but Steenhard was pronounced death at the scene

The accident remains under investigation.
