Farm crawl promotes locally grown foods

BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

Some local farms came together Sunday to hold a farm crawl - to encourage Iowans to eat more organic and locally grown food.
11 farms took part in the farm crawl and each had their own unique look on locally grown food.
People had the chance to tour orchards, a vineyard, a dairy farm, and even an emu farm.
At many locations, fresh produce and other local products were for sale. "We noticed downtown at the farmers market a lot of people are grateful for having organic produce to provide to their families. We like the fact that we can offer healthy, organic produce for families," said produce farm owner, Brynn Friedrich.
The farm crawl is part of a local foods awareness program through the UNI Center for Energy and Environmental Education.
