Walking to fight ovarian cancer

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

More than 100 people laced up their walking shoes to fight ovarian cancer Sunday.

The inaugural Never Give Up Ovarian Cancer Walk took place at Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids.

Organizers are raising awareness for the disease they call the silent killer.

"Ovarian cancer has actually hit my family so this is a personal event for me," said Dawn Fields, Event Organizer. "There just has not been anything like this is this area so we just wanted to bring it to everybody's attention."

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
