Firefighters hold state convention in Manchester

MANCHESTER (KWWL) -

Thousands of firefighters have converged on Manchester this weekend for the Iowa Firefighters Association's annual convention.

About 200 firefighters are spending the weekend in Manchester where there's plenty of training,some contests, and fellowship among the firefighters.

There were some friendly competitions but it's also a time for these men and women to come together in a more social setting.

"It's a place for people to come and have a couple beers and hang out with the people they've met across the state during training or during meetings," said IFA Convention co-chair Mike Ryan.

  Next year's convention take place in Vinton.
