Cedar Rapids Titans team up with Metro Youth Football

The Cedar Rapids Titans have teamed up with the Metro Youth Football Association to provide a second site for youth football games to be played.

The Titans announced in August that they bought the Sport Zone in Hiawatha with plans to turn it into a multi-purpose community facility called the Eastern Iowa Sports Complex.  One of the facilities at the new complex includes an outdoor, lighted football field that MYFA will use along with their own complex on A'Hearn Drive in Cedar Rapids.

MYFA, which was founded in 1971, gives over 2,500 kids from first grade through sixth grade the opportunity to learn and play flag and tackle football.  Area teams include Cedar Rapids, Linn-Mar, Marion, Benton Community, Vinton-Shellsburg and Center Point-Urbana.

The new partnership allows MYFA to host six games at the Eastern Iowa Sports Complex in addition to the 18 they host at their main site.

Games begin on Sept. 9 and continue through Oct. 21.  Admission is free and concessions are available.

To mark the partnership with MYFA and the grand opening of the Eastern Iowa Sports Complex, the Cedar Rapids Titans will be hosting events, including their second annual coat drive for the Salvation Army, at the complex from Friday through Sunday.
