Boone County Sheriff's Dept. arrests 5 for DUI over Labor Day

BOONE COUNTY (WREX) -

Five people were arrested for driving under the influence in Boone County thanks to stepped-up enforcement over the Labor Day holiday.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department was able to carry out extra patrols over the holiday weekend thanks to a Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program grant through the Illinois Department of Transportation. The increased enforcement focused on seatbelt and DUI violations.

During the seatbelt patrols, 39 cars were stopped and 40 citations were handed out for seatbelt violations. One person was arrested for drugs.

Police on DUI patrols stopped 42 vehicles. Thirteen citations were issued for speeding, two people were arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license, and three were arrested for drugs. The following five people were arrested for DUI:

  • Preston Frantz, 23, Belvidere
  • Jason Irving, 33, Poplar Grove
  • Lee Ziller, 34, Woodstock
  • Jessica Musil, 22, Genoa
  • Jesus Lopez-Ramirez, 21, Belvidere
