Lawyers in Iowa death penalty case seek jury data

MASON CITY (KWWL) -

Lawyers for an Iowa woman convicted in the drug-related killings of five people plan to challenge the jury selection process.

Angela Johnson was found guilty for the 1993 murders, which happened near Mason City.

Now, her lawyers want data on the make-up of juries in northern Iowa.

They say the selection system may cause minorities to be under-represented.

Johnson is set to go on trial next year to determine whether she should be sent back to federal death row.

A judge threw out her 2005 death sentence in march.

Johnson's boyfriend, Dustin Honken, also faces the death penalty.
