Steele Jantz put together his most complete performance throwing for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns as Iowa State opened their 2012 campaign with a 38-23 win over Tulsa.

Midway through the first quarter, Jantz threw his first scoring strike, a 43 yarder to Josh Lenz for a 7-0 lead.  Tulsa, however rallied, first stopping Jeff Woody in the end zone for a safety, followed by a pair of touchdowns to end the first quarter with a 16-7 lead.

That's when Jantz took over, first scrambling for a 5 yard touchdown, then throwing a 6 yard touchdown pass to tight end Ernst Brun.  Iowa State scored 24 unanswered points to lead 31-16 in the second half.

Tulsa put together a 3 play, 92 yard touchdown drive to pull within 8 late, but Shontrelle Johnson put the game away with a 6 yard touchdown giving the Cyclones the opening day victory.
