Biker who died after police chase was driving drunk

A report shows a 26-year old motorcyclist who died at the end of a pursuit in Linn County was driving drunk.

The crash happened July 8th at the intersection of Highways 13 and 100 in Marion.

Investigators say Andrew Lown of Cedar Rapids reached speeds of nearly 125 mph during the chase.  Lown crashed into a cornfield when his bike struck a median.

Tests show Lown had a blood alcohol level of twice the legal limit.
