DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
Clarke University's new executive director of marketing and communication exudes enthusiasm for his new job and city.
The university hired Madison, Wis.-native Tom Farley to take over the position left vacant by Mike Cyze when Cyze left to take a position with the Dubuque Community School District.
Farley's energy and excitement are catching, plus there's an unmistakable twinkle in his eye. When Farley mentions he's the co-author of his brother's biography -- and that his brother is the late comedian and actor Chris Farley -- the energy, the charisma and the sparkle instantly become so familiar. It must run in the family.
Farley created and ran the Chris Farley Foundation, which he used to raise awareness of substance abuse and conduct prevention programs. That program closed in early 2012, after 13 years.
His employment history took him from New York City, where he worked for financial services firms, back to his hometown of Madison, Wis., where he served as director of marketing for the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Farley joins Clarke University as it embarks upon a new five-year strategic plan aimed at demonstrating the institution's uniqueness.
