SHELLSBURG (KWWL) -

Officials are investigating what caused the Shellsburg Police Chief's garage to catch fire.

Firefighters were called to 105 Oak Street around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started in the garage and spread to the east side of the house.

Shellsburg, Atkins, Palo, and Hiawatha fire departments responded.

No one was injured, but the garage and a car inside were destroyed.  The house was damaged, but officials aren't yet saying how badly.

The Red Cross says they assisted three people who lived in the home.
