DES MOINES (KWWL) -
Nearly 100 Iowa school buses have been repeatedly considered unsafe to transport children in the past five years.
According to the Des Moines Register, there are no rules in place that require buses to receive an inspection after they've been deemed a safety hazard.
Because of this situation, it's up to schools to determine whether a bus should go under an inspection. In addition, there are no penalties for school districts with repeated safety problems.
Based off of the Des Moines Register's report, Iowa Senator Amanda Regan says these inspection rules may need to be reviewed.
