DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Dubuque police say they have made in arrest in a stabbing that happened last Friday.

Lieutenant Scott Baxter says officers were called to Mercy Hospital just before 4:00 a.m. on Friday to meet with a stabbing victim.

Once at the hospital, 26-year-old Stephen W. Toliver told officers that he got into an argument with a woman in the alley east of the 1300 block of Main Street.  He says that the woman stabbed him several times.

Toliver was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle and he was treated and released.

Baxter says officers arrested 25-year-old Maria C. Cavin on Saturday when she turned herself in.

Cavin is charged with willful injury and faces up to five years in prison and up to a $7,500 fine if convicted.
