Clayton County Sheriff recognized by FAA

Clayton County Sheriff Mike Tschirgi is being recognized for his investigation work during a July plane crash.

The crash happened on July 14th at the Elkader Municipal Airport.

The pilot and passenger in the crash were taken to the hospital, but lived to tell the tale.

The Federal Aviation Administration is now recognizing Tschirgi and his deputies for an excellent job done-- specifically in taking photos for evidence and collecting witness statements.

"The information and data received from the officers assigned to this case was crucial to our investigation with excellent photographic evidence and witness statements" said Larry Arenholz Manager Des Moines FSDO of  the Federal Aviation Administration.
