WATERLOO (KWWL) -
It may only be mid-August, but corn harvest is already getting underway in some places.
A farm off Kimball Avenue in Waterloo is harvesting seed corn right now.
The USDA says four percent of all corn has been harvested so far, and that's three percent above average for this time of year. Farmers in other Midwestern state, affected worse by the drought, are even further ahead of schedule.
Some Iowa farmers predict the drought will create yields closer to just 125 bushels an acre, instead of the more typical 200 bushels.
