Former Hawk Steinbach retires from the NFL

Former Hawkeye Eric Steinbach was hoping to make one last run in the NFL with his former Iowa offensive line coach Joe Philbin in Miami.

But Philbin now the head coach of the Miami Dolphins announced after practice today that the 32 year old Steinbach has decided to retire because of health issues...

He just signed with Miami in July....after sitting out last year with injuries.

Steinbach the 2002 Big Ten offensive lineman of the year and concensus all All-American ---played all of his NFL career in the state of Ohio--four years with the Cincinnati Bengals which drafted him in the second round in 2003.. and four with the Cleveland Browns. He only missed 3 games in his first eight years in the NFL.
