Iowa's unemployment rate is up a tick in July. The rate edged up to 5.3% from 5.1% in June. The rate was 6% in 2011.
Iowa Workforce Development says the state gained 2,300 jobs in non-farm related employment last month. This is after two months of decreases.
The number of unemployed people in Iowa is estimated at 88,200.
The national jobless rate rose to 8.3% in July.
