School begins without presence of missing girls

Posted:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

It's back to school for many kids in the area.  Waterloo and Cedar Falls public schools started classes Thursday.  At the same time, some area students are remembering two girls absent from their classrooms.

Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook went missing from Evansdale July 13th.

Lyric attends Kingsley Elementary in Waterloo, where parents and students tied pink ribbons this summer.

Elizabeth attends Poyner Elementary in Evansdale.

Extra counselors were available for students.

Both schools will have teachers and staff are ready to answer the tough questions about the disappearance.
