CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Cedar Rapids police are investigating an armed robbery that happened at a liquor store on Thursday afternoon.

According to Sergeant Cristy Hamblin, officers were called to 2933 First Avenue SE just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Hamblin says that two black men, one who was armed with a handgun, walked into the store and robbed it.

The nephew of the owner tells KWWL that when the two men walked in, one asked for a bathroom and then came out with a gun.  He says the pair got away with cigarette, chewing tobacco and a couple hundred dollars in cash.

Hamblin says the pair left in a Ford Explorer.

The men were both wearing hoodie sweatshirts.  One had red and black vertical stripes, the other had a black body and red sleeves.  The second man was also wearing a baseball hat with a red bill.

If you have any information, you are asked to contact the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
