Iowa City police to continue "Party Patrols"

The Iowa City Police Department says they will continue their "Party Patrols", a program designed to take a proactive stance against disruptive house parties and behaviors in neighborhoods.

Sergeant Denise Brotherton says the "Party Patrol" program began in the Fall of 2010 when neighbors living near downtown became concerned about increased activity after the "21-only" ordinance was enacted.

Iowa City police will have teams of officers patrol these neighborhoods on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.  They will respond to house parties and disorderly behavior.

Residents are encouraged to call the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-6800 when they see disruptive behavior or parties in their neighborhood.
