The first faculty meeting of the school year was cut short at Cascade High School by a surprise visit from the President of the United States.
President Barack Obama stopped by the school on Wednesday, traveling from Cedar Rapids to a campaign stop in Dubuque.
The faculty said their meetings were suddenly cut off and when they began to see Secret Service agents roaming the campus, they realized they were about to meet the president.
Mr. Obama thanked the group of about 35 teachers for their work as educators and held a brief question-and-answer session in the library.
He was at the school for about 45 minutes before boarding the bus and heading on to Dubuque.
