WATERLOO (KWWL) -
A Grundy County woman has been sentenced in a hit and run accident, which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries in October 2011.
Jennifer Moeller of Holland was texting and driving when her vehicle crossed the center line and hit Joan Nicholson of Waterloo, who was riding her motorcycle at the time.
Nicholson lost her leg in the crash.
Monday, Moeller was sentenced to five years in prison. Nicholson was at the Black Hawk County court for the sentencing and says she thought it should have been more.
"Not as long as I thought, but better than nothing. I just want it to impact her life. She impacted mine a lot," Nicholson said.
Moeller's sentence will be eligible for review in 30 days.
