Cedar Rapids animal shelter holds 'kitten shower'

Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control held this kitten shower trying to find homes for the surplus of kittens in their care.

It was everything feline Saturday afternoon.

A bake sale, and a raffle were held to raise money for medical costs, and two kittens could be had for the price of one.

Shelter organizers say this flood of furry friends is common at this time of the year.

12 kittens were featured in today's shower, but the Cedar Rapids shelter has more than 80 felines available for adoption.

Cats are given their first set of shots, a de-worming and are spayed or neutered before they leave the shelter.
