Romney announces his Vice Presidential pick

Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney announced Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his choice for Vice President.

Romney made the announcement Saturday morning in Norfolk, Virginia.

42-year-old Paul Ryan is a seven-term Congressman. He's chair of the House Budget Committee.

The announcement was made as the campaign launches "The Romney Plan for a Stronger Middle Class" bus tour.

Ryan plans to make his first solo stop in Iowa Monday at the Iowa State Fair.

Political analysts say Ryan's budget plan may raise some red flags for independent and older voters.

"As chairman of the House Budget Committee, he proposed the budget where you're talking about changing medicare to a voucher program.  And so for seniors, that's going to be a big concern.  I imagine the Obama campaign is going to be pushing that the rest of the way.  That's going to be the first thing in television commercials, what the Obama campaign is going to send out to supporters.  This is the man who called for changing Medicare to a voucher program," said UNI Political Science professor Chris Larimer.
