Apple recall hits grocery stores and restaurants

A food supplier is voluntary recalling apple products shipped to fast food restaurants and grocery stores in 36 states including Iowa.

Missa Bay and Ready Pac Foods is recalling apple slices and diced apples because of a risk of listeria contamination.

In Iowa, apple products include Burger King's BK Apple Slices, McDonald's Fruit and Walnut snacks, and Ready Snax packages with a Ready Pac label that include apples. All of the products have a use by date of mid-August. A complete list of products involved including use by dates and UPC codes can be found on the company's website

Customers who have the recalled products should write down the dates and UPC codes from the package, throw away the product, and contact the company at (800) 800‐7822, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Pacific Time) for a refund.
