The 17th annual Cedar Trails Festival is underway through Sunday, with a host of family-friendly trail events on this year's schedule.

The annual festival features a Volksmarch Friday until 8 pm, as part of the Fridayloo in Lincoln Park.

Saturday morning is the festival 5K run starting at Gateway Park in downtown Cedar Falls. Dave Lipinski's Trekman Racing is organizing the 5K run, which will include running on the Big woods Lake Trail around Big Woods Lake. The race starts at 7 am.

At 9 Saturday morning, the 3rd annual Cedar Valley Pet Fest will get underway, also in Gateway Park. It runs until 1 pm. And is sponsored by Advanced Pet Care clinic and Pet Agreed Canine Academy.

The annual Bicycle Rodeo also begins at 9 am in the Campground area of Black Hawk Park on Lone Tree Road. Sponsored by Black Hawk Conservation and Bike Tech, this event will feature free bicycle inspections.

The popular Tour de Valley Ride begins at 10 am Saturday at Gateway Park, sponsored by Scheels.

At 1:30 Saturday, the Cedar Valley Association of Soft Trails will sponsor the Dirty Ride on some of the soft trails of the Cedar Trails system. Participants should meet at Mulligan's Brick Oven and Pub by 1:30 pm.

Scheels will also conduct a water trails demonstration on Big Woods Lake from 10 am until 3 pm.

One of the most popular events of the festival is the annual Light Up the Night Ride. This popular event is sponsored by Europa Cycle and ski. As always, riders will gather before dusk at Gateway Park in Cedar Falls to enjoy pre-ride ‘Live' music from Fat Cat. The 'Night Ride' itself will start at approximately 9 pm.

Sunday will feature the annual Poker Ride starting at 11 am at Mulligan's. Also Sunday is the 6th annual Eco Triathlon, which will be held at George Wyth State Park.
