Shrine Association's Ceremonial Session begins Wednesday in Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids will host the Central States Shrine Association's 2012 Ceremonial Session beginning Wednesday through Saturday.

Nearly 2,400 Shriners from 23 Shrine centers in seven different states are expected to generate around $1 million in direct spending.

Shriners will compete in several events including foot patrol, clowns, horse competitions and oriental bands at several Cedar Rapids venues including Hawkeye Downs, Kirkwood Equestrian Center, Scottish Rite Building and Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The weekend concludes with the "All Shrine Parade" which is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Saturday on the Kirkwood Community College campus.  The parade lasts two to three hours.
