IOWA CITY (KWWL) -
Even the most dedicated journalist covering the Hawkeyes might have needed a cheat sheet to figure out which players they were talking to on football media day in Iowa City.
More than two-thirds of the Iowa Football roster is made up of freshmen and sophomores-- perhaps the youngest team Kirk Ferentz has ever had.
That means a lot of young players will be battling for starting positions... Especially at running back where two true freshmen are in the mix--because of injury--suspension and players leaving the program. Can the true freshmen--Barkley Hill and Greg Garmon really contend for a starting job?
Damon Bullock is the number one tailback on the depth chart---so naturally he received lots of attention on media day.
Since he's only carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards in his Hawkeye career--Gamon had to remind people he's got skills.
Fullback Brad Rogers is number two behind bullock on the tailback depth chart.
