A new candidate is entering the field for Iowa Senate.
Ryan Flood was selected as the Republican candidate for Senate district 34. He's the former campaign manager of Randi Shannon.
She quit the race last month because she thinks the U.S. government is no longer legitimate. Flood says he disagrees with that position.
"I heard a little bit about it, and I looked into it a little bit, and I still don't really follow what they're talking about with that. The government that we have is a legitimate government and it's the one we need to work in," said Flood.
Flood has to file papers by Aug. 17 to officially be on the ballot against Democrat incumbent Liz Mathis.
