CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A Van Horne man now faces charges for a motorcycle crash in Cedar Rapids that killed a Jesup woman in August.

Police say 41-year-old Brett Feuerhelm faces vehicular homicide/reckless driving and vehicular homicide/operating while intoxicated charges for the August 3 crash that killed his passenger, 34-year-old Shawna Skinner of Jesup.

Police say that Feuerhelm was headed north on 12th Street SW at 29th Avenue SW at around 7:38 p.m. when he left the road and hit a street sign.

Officers say Skinner died at the scene of the crash.  Feuerhelm was taken to St. Luke's Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Sergeant Cristy Hamblin says that Feuerhelm turned himself into the Cedar Rapids Police Department on Monday morning.
