MIDDLE AMANA (KWWL) -

A suspected lightning strike from a fast-moving thunderstorm is believed to be the cause of a fire at a bed and breakfast in the Amana Colonies.  Two people were inside Rose's Place Bed and Breakfast in Middle Amana when the storm moved through around 12:30.  They say they heard a loud crack, then saw smoke coming from the upstairs section of the building.  Fire crews from as far away as Coralville responded.  No-one was hurt.  The building was constructed in 1870 as a church.  The owner says there is significant damage to the upper floor.   He says the building is insured.
